Policies and Important Information

Policies

PATCH TESTS POLICY

Please book in for a patch test before trying any new treatment as it is important to ensure no reactions will occur during or after treatment. These are available to book via the booking system. Please read further down about patch tests and allergic reactions.

DEPOSIT POLICY

To secure an appointment, you would be required to pay a deposit. This deposit will be taken off the cost of your treatment on the day of your appointment. Payment is made when you initially book via the booking system or through me if booking through via DM, either by PayPal or bank transfer. If you would prefer to pay cash, please give me a message and we arrange a day/time for you to drop the deposit off to the salon. Non-refundable.

CANCELLATION POLICY

I require at least 48 hours notice for any clients that need to cancel. If you cannot provide this notice it will result in the loss of your deposit. If you are unable to make your appointment, you can contact me to rearrange (within 2 months), and the deposit can be moved over as long as it is 48 hours before your original appointment.

CLIENT LASH HYGIENE POLICY

Please arrive at your appointment, whether it is for an infill or full set, with NO eye makeup on or around the eyes. I’d like to dedicate every available minute possible to applying the extensions and any dirt, oil and makeup can affect the lash extensions and the retention. The more time I spend cleaning the lashes, the less time I have to apply the extensions.

THE EARLY/LATE POLICY

Please arrive at your appointment on time. If you arrive early, please understand that I may be with another client, preparing for your appointment or even tending to personal matters. If this is the case, you could give me a message to see if I am free and ready for your arrival in advance. If you are late, I ask you to let me know as soon as you are aware you are running late. Please understand that the time will come out of your allocated time slot. As which may result in less lash coverage or even be turned away, depending on how late you are.

NO INFILLING OTHER TECHNICIANS WORK POLICY

Unfortunately, infilling other lash technicians work is not a service I offer. This is due to the difference in products each technicians uses, and it runs the risk of the lashes not looking the highest quality that I would desire. A removal and full set would be recommended in this instance.

OVER 16s ONLY POLICY

You must be over 16 to have any treatments that are offered.

BEFORE LASH APPOINTMENT

DO:
Shower prior to your appointment.

It is recommended that you shower before the appointment, especially washing your hair in order to eliminate the chance of contact with water or steam within the first 24 hours of having the extensions. This is to ensure that the glue sets currently after the appointment as the water/steam can prevent this from happening.

Wear comfortable clothing.

It takes approximately 90 minutes to complete a full set of lash extensions, so it is recommended that you wear comfortable clothes and prepare yourself in order to feel more relaxed.

Remove your contacts.

As your eyes will be closed throughout this time, you should remove your contact lenses to avoid any discomfort.
Wear your hair up.

It is preferred if you come to your appointment with your hair up to avoid it getting in the way during the appointment and avoid it from getting in the glue which may be placed near you. It is recommended that you avoid wear any big hair clips as this will be uncomfortable when laying down.

DON’T:
Wear makeup.
Makeup products worn close to the eye will need to be removed at the beginning of your appointment prior to the extensions being applied as the lashes need to be clean and free from any oils in order for the glue to stick. As well as this, the tape and gel pads which are places on your lower lashes often fail to stick if places on top of makeup. Coming to your appointment with a clean face will save time and eliminate the need for myself as the lash stylist to remove your eye makeup which would result in less time applying the extensions.

Wear mascara.
Lashes must be fresh and clean in order to be properly prepped for the appointment. Mascara can be extremely difficult to fully remove so please avoid wearing this on the day of your appointment.

Apply face creams or suncream to the eye area.

The oils within many moisturisers and sunblock can prevent the eyelash glue from properly adhering to your natural lashes which can dramatically affecting the retention of your eyelash extensions. It is important to also take this into consideration even after your appointment.

Curl your lashes on the day of your lash application.
It is essential that your lashes are in the most natural and healthy state they can prior to your lash extension application. Please do not curl your eyelashes, or use any other manipulation on them the day of your appointment. It is also a lot easier for lash techs to work with straighter lashes in comparison to curlier ones.

Patch tests

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PATCH TESTING LASH EXTENSION ADHESIVE

Cyanoacrylate is the main ingredient in lash extension adhesive and also the reason for most reactions. It is an irritant for your skin, eyeballs and respiratory functions. For this reason, lash adhesives should not touch the skin.

Patch testing on the skin is an outdated method and is not a clear indicator for showing if a reaction will occur or not. That being said, applying a few lashes DOES NOT give a clear indication of whether or not a reaction will occur. This is because of 2 reasons:

1. A patch test does not give full exposure in the same way a full set of lashes will.

2. Lash adhesive allergies are cumulative, meaning they build up over time.

It is more likely for allergies, sensitivities and reactions to occur after you after you have been having lashes for 6 months or more. This is because the sensitivity will build up each time you are exposed to lash adhesive.

It is unlikely (although it is possible) that you will already have an allergy to Cyanoacrylate if you have not been exposed to it before.

NOTE: Nail Glue and Super Glue are Cyanoacrylate based.

This means that a patch test will not accurately test for allergies and a reaction could still occur even if the patch test results are fine.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU BECOME ALLERGIC TO CYANOACRYLATE?

Unfortunately, if you become allergic to Cyanoacrylate, it will recommended that you do not have lash extensions and an alternative treatment may be discussed.

Patch tests are a must for all services offered at Lashes By GB.
